Penelitian ini membahas tentang penggunaan slang dalam 9 lagu populer Rich Brian di YouTube berdasarkan banyaknya jumlah penonton. Kesembilan lagu tersebut adalah ‘Dat Stick’, ‘100 Degrees’, ‘edamame’, ‘Drive Safe’, ‘Yellow’, ‘Rapapapa’, ‘Kids’, ‘Kitty’, dan ‘Cold’. Data penelitian ini di kumpulkan melalui observasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif serta bertujuan untuk menafsirkan masing-masing dari makna kata slang yang terdapat dalam lagunya, mengidentifikasi bentuknya, mengelompokkan jenis-jenis slang tersebut beserta fungsi sosialnya. pada penelitian ini jenis-jenis slang di analisis menggunakan teori Eric Partridge (2004), arti kata slang mengacu kepada Oxford Dictionary, Urban Dictionary, dan NTC’s Dictionary of American Slang Colloquial dan fungsi sosial slang di analisis menggunakan teori Yanchun dan Yanhong (2013). Hasil data terdapat 38 data yang terdapat dalam 9 lagu populer tersebut. Klasifikasi 38 data, mengidentifikasi 30 data. Hasilnya, untuk jenis slang, society slang terdapat 24 data, publicity slang 2 data, dan public house slang 4 data. Kemudian, hasil untuk fungsi sosial slang, 3 data pursuit identity, 27 data emotive function. Penulis juga sampai pada kesimpulan bahwa sebagian besar menunjukkan banyak kata dalam kesembilan lagu populer yang bisa dikatakan sebagai slang.

This research discusses the use of slang in 9 popular Rich Brian songs on YouTube based on the number of viewers. The nine songs are Dat Stick, 100 Degrees, edamame, Drive Safe, Yellow, Rapapapa, Kids, Kitty, and Cold. This research data was collected through observation. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and aims to interpret each of the meanings of slang words contained in the song, identify its form, classify the types of slang and their social functions. In this study, the types of slang are analyzed using the theory of Eric Partridge (2004), the meaning of slang refers to the Oxford Dictionary, Urban Dictionary, and NTC's Dictionary of American Slang Colloquial and the social function of slang is analyzed using the theory of Yanchun and Yanhong (2013). The results of the data there are 38 data contained in the 9 popular songs. Classification of 38 data, identified 30 data. As a result, for the type of slang, there are 24 data for society slang, 2 data for publicity slang, and 4 data for public house slang. Then, the results for the social function of slang, 3 data pursuit identity, 27 data emotive function. The author also came to the conclusion that most of the words in the nine popular songs can be said to be slang.
